Brazil’s Amanda Gutierres is already dreaming big. The striker, who finished as the top scorer at the 2025 Copa América Femenina, believes the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ on home soil could be the most special moment of her career.
Inspired by Cristiane
Amanda has always looked up to Brazilian legend Cristiane, one of the greatest scorers in Women’s World Cup history. The two briefly shared a dressing room at Santos, where Amanda trained daily with her idol. “It’s a huge responsibility to follow in her footsteps,” she said. “I’m inspired not just by her goals but by her entire journey.”
Recently, FIFA surprised Amanda with a video message from Cristiane herself, congratulating the young forward and encouraging her to keep chasing greatness. Amanda’s reaction was pure joy: “She’s my role model — not only for Brazil but for the world.”
From Market Stalls to Stardom
Amanda’s story is as inspiring as it is unlikely. Before becoming one of Brazil’s brightest footballing talents, she used to sell vegetables at the local market with her uncles. Now, at just 24, she is winning titles and preparing to lead her country into a home World Cup.
Her personal anthem is “Mire As Estrelas” (Aim for the Stars) — a fitting choice for a player determined to go higher and higher.
Eyes on 2027
Brazil have never lifted the Women’s World Cup, and Amanda is determined to change that. “It’s a childhood dream,” she admitted. “The expectations are sky-high, especially because it’s happening in Brazil. Having family in the stands and fans filling the stadiums will make it unforgettable.”
She believes the atmosphere will rival Brazil’s hosting of the men’s tournament in 2014. “The country comes alive for the World Cup. It’s going to be sensational,” Amanda said.
Golden Boot Ambitions
After topping the scoring charts at the Copa América, Amanda is now one of the early contenders for the Golden Boot in 2027. But for her, the priority is collective glory. “Being top scorer is special, but winning with the Seleção means so much more. That’s the result of all our hard work.”
With two years to go, Amanda is already counting down the days: “The World Cup is coming… Will I be there? How will I celebrate? Having my whole family in the stadium — I can’t wait for 2027.”
